Day 16 - Saguaro National Park (West)

Our first scouting drive into the park. But first, the suburb right on the edge of Saguaro National Park.

The backroad into the West Unit of Saguaro National Park. The advisory says "high clearance vehicles recommended", but makes no mention of 4-wheel drive. There's a lot of deep sand. The tow truck drivers must be very happy.

The saguaros are crazy.

Do I really have to follow him? He goes to crazy places.

Apparently, they lock the gates at sunset. And we are several kilometers of rugged road from the gates.

Dunno. Also dunno anyone who would bushwhack the couple of hundred meters of cactus to find out.

Light is falling fast - don't lock those gates!

Beyond the gates - the crooked road winds back to Tucson. Whew! Snacks await back at the ranch.
